Process Conformance Checking
Conformance analysis asks where real execution follows or departs from the intended process.
Practical note: process design depends on organization, data, controls, laws, contracts and technology. Treat examples and calculators as educational planning aids, then validate changes against your own requirements.
Not every deviation is a defect
Some variants are legitimate exceptions. The goal is to distinguish authorized variation from control failures or inefficient workarounds.
Use deviation categories
Skipped approvals, repeated activities, out-of-sequence steps and unapproved routes can each point to different causes.
Feed improvement and governance
Recurring deviations may indicate that the process design is unrealistic, training is weak or system controls need adjustment.
