Integration Patterns for Business Processes
End-to-end processes often cross multiple applications. Integration moves data and events between them while preserving ownership and consistency.
Practical note: process design depends on organization, data, controls, laws, contracts and technology. Treat examples and calculators as educational planning aids, then validate changes against your own requirements.
Synchronous APIs
One system asks another for data or action and waits for a response. This is useful when an immediate answer is required.
Asynchronous events and messages
One system publishes that something happened and other systems respond without requiring the initiating system to wait.
Files and batch interfaces
Batch exchange remains common for high-volume or legacy processes. Scheduling, reconciliation and error handling are essential.
